Processing PAEK and PEEK

Polyaryl ether ketone (PAEK) and polyether ether ketone (PEEK) are semi-crystalline thermoplastics with a high melting temperature, high tensile and flexural strenth, high rigidity and extremely good resistance to chemical attack. These high-performance plastics are flame-resistant and are characterised by good surface slip properties and low wear.

As a result of these properties, PAEK and PEEK thermoplastics are ideal for use as gear wheels, seals, pump wheels, bearings, wear discs, and film, etc. in the automobile, aerospace and electrical engineering industries.

The manufacture of such products by means of extrusion or injection moulding calls for PAEK and PEEK at a fineness of 97% < 64 µm.

To comminute these tough and resilient plastics, we make successful
use of our AFG fluidised bed opposed jet mill.

The process schematic below shows a system for the production
of an end product with a d of < 64 µm at 50 % <  20 µm
