Processing
Nutritionals (Milk Calcium)
Nutritionals are understood to mean
products that are obtained from foodstuffs or from their
refinement. They are categorised as foodstuffs or rather
foodstuff additives that are beneficial to health. It
is a proven fact that these products are of physiological
benefit and help the body to cope with chronic illness
by boosting the immune system.
An example is milk calcium, a product that can significantly
increase the bone density. Milk calcium is contained in
baby food, in milk energy drinks, in joghurt, in cheese
snacks, and in biscuits and chocolate with milk filling,
etc.
Before the calcium precipitated and separated from the
whey can be used further, it must be processed to finenesses
in the range of < 7 µm to < 15 µm.
To this end, Hosokawa Alpine employs its AFG fluidised
bed opposed jet mill with great success. Characteristic
for this classifier mill is the steep particle size distribution
that can be obtained. |
A typical system configuration:
 |
1 = Feed metering unit
2 = Fluidised bed opposed jet mill AFG with flap valve
3 = Process gas distributor
4 = Automatic reverse jet filter
5 = Fan
6 = Butterfly valve
7 = Exhaust silencer
8 = Control cabinet
A = Feed product
B = End product |
The system configuration (selection of the mill size and accessories)
depends on customer requirements, test results and discussions.
