Polytetrafluorethylenes are thermoelastic
polymers which are characterised by their high chemical
resistance and low adhesive power.
PTFE is used as a non-stick coating in the paper, textile,
and foodstuffs industries as well as in plastics processing,
in the electrical and aerospace industries, in aircraft
construction, chemical apparatus engineering, in laboratory
equipment, and in maintenance-free bearings and seals. |
The following flow chart shows a grinding system in special
design. The flow behaviour of PTFE was paid particular attention
to during system layout and design. The system was designed
for the following problem specification:
Teflon (PTFE) feed size up to 20 mm (Teflon chips).
Required end-product fineness: 99.8 % < 50 µm.
System performance: approx. 250 kg/h.
Necessary grinding air: approx. 3200 m²/h at 7 bar (g).

The grinding
process is performed with a Hosokawa
Alpine fluidised bed opposed jet mill AFG with
pneumatic feed unit. A filter installed downstream of
the
classifier mill collects and separates the end product
from the grinding/classifying air. The end product exits
the filter bin through a rotary valve. The entire system
is controlled by means of an electric control system. |
